Otter Rock
Destination number 2 and this place is absolutely gorgeous. There was a cute walkway along the edge with bushes separating off different benches and tables; you can sit, snack & drink, watch the water and search for whales for hours at a time. The long rock farthest out in the water is Gull rock and the one with a circular hole in it is called the Devils Punch Bowl. I thought for most of my time there that Gull rock was Otter rock but that one is actually a little more south. Unfortunately, there aren't any otters to see on the rock out there anymore either. I saw it briefly but got distracted and didn't snap a picture of it because some locals were headed out surfing!
I was literally mind blown seeing people go surfing at this time of the year. I mean I get that local surfers like to go year-round, but the waters have to go be freezing up here in Oregon. I guess I always thought that to be more of a California thing. I mean not to mention the dangers of sharks in the area and season which is all I'm going to say about that!
This place was pretty cool, if I come back it will be for the wine. There are literally wineries everywhere!!! Before you know it I'm going to be a professional wine taster lol
Happy thirsty Thursday ;)
xoxo,
Andrea Aloren
