4 Dr Thru Tree

Day 4

Fajita leftovers from the night before made for an astounding breakfast burrito. After the three of us, took brisk showers and packed up our camp to head out. First stopping along the way at Klamath Tour Thru Tree, which was literally a line of cars one by one taking photos in a tree off to the side of the highway. There was absolutely no breather when our turn came; I wish we would have turned off the headlights for a better photo. However, the lady behind us noticed our mistake and was able to learn from it for her pictures, so at least we were able to help out somebody else.

Then heading down the Newton B. Drury scenic parkway drive. Somewhat low on gas with no service in the middle of the woods we kept a lookout for a good place to stop, probably our closest call on the whole trip, but we did find gasoline so there were really no troubles.

Next, Lucy made us stop at "the largest tree" which Chloe and I assumed to be the Big Tree! A pretty spectacular stop in my opinion because it's hard to imagine what it was like 1500 years ago when this tree first originated. I'm curious if people at the time looked for old and big trees the way we do now? It's possible.

We proceeded to make our way to the new campsite at Elk Prairie, setting up the tent and campsite before heading out for a long day of hiking!

xoxo,
Andrea Aloren
